Community Relations

Do I really need to build a relationship with the community?

Community Relations is similar to media relations. You want to build relationships in the community that are mutually beneficial to your business and the community. If you are a local coffee shop or boutique you may want to sponsor a local team, or find out how to get your name on the banner that is displayed on the field or participate in a school silent auction, giveaway or welcome back basket. This helps you to get your name out in the community, and also shows that you are supporting the local school and sports programs.

Check out episode six of the PR Toolkit. In this episode I talk about why it is important for businesses (brick and mortar as well as online) to build relationships with their local community.
