Press Kit vs. Media Kit

Do I need a press kit, a media kit or both? And what are they?


Press and Media kits are not new. They have been around for ages. With social media marketing and press becoming bigger, these turns are getting used a lot more. The words are sometimes used interchangeable, but there is a difference, and they serve separate purposes.


Press Kit


A Press Kit is all of your information on one page. What you do, what you offer, how to find you. Usually used when you are going to be a guest on podcast, FB live, or a speaker.


Press Kit Contain:


  • A bio (short or long depending on what information is requested)

  • Brand story-why did you start your brand, what is your mission, your values

  • Facts about your company

  • Things your company has accomplished, awards they have won, places they have been featured

  • What you offer

  • Reviews or Testimonies

  • Logo

  • Links to your social media pages

  • Links to your resources (freebies, podcast, website)

  • Contact info

  • Picture

  • Links to previous interviews or features

Media Kit


A Media Kit is how successful you are. This is usually used for those looking to be influencers. It helps determine if they are a good fit for the brand, and how much exposure the brand could potential get from them.


Media Kit Contain:

  • A short bio

  • Numbers on social media (followers, average likes) only include the social media platform you are intending to advertise on.

  • Topics you want to partner on, that you think would make good content, and that you an expert in

  • References of other partnerships (who you’ve worked with, branded post, engagement numbers, testimonials)

  • Demographics-who is your target audience, what is their interest, where do they live, what do they do for a living, gender

  • Contact Info
