On this episode of The Mod Co Podcast Alex Smith is back! This time we chat about entrepreneurship!
Alex is the founder and heart behind Mom, Wife, Worship Life, a Florida native, former math teacher and proud wife and mom of two.She now dedicates her life to sharing her journey as a mom, wife and entrepreneur while coping with a chronic mental illness guided by her unwavering faith. Alex's testimony is one of resilient self-love and the strength found in Jesus Christ. She's here to inspire and encourage every woman to not just survive, but thrive.
Angel: How long have you been an entrepreneur and how did you go from being in the classroom teaching math to being an entrepreneur?
Alex: I started my entrepreneurial journey last year. I had a big launch party in April 29th of 2023. I transitioned from being a teacher to being a stay-at-home mom, and then from being a stay-at-home mom into being a, what I call now, work-from-home mom.
I feel like I have a calling on my life from God.
Angel: How did you transition from blogging to what you do now?
Alex: It's really just the passion behind wanting to help people, honestly.
It's women coming to me asking me questions.
I do some public speaking on panels at different women's empowerment events.
And women wanting to know how did you overcome this illness?
How does your spouse support you?
What does that look like?
And what did it look like when you had children?
What was your experience?
I had experience postpartum psychosis with both of my babies.
So it's just a lot of questions that are being asked. And a lot of people aren't talking about it and people aren't talking about it because they haven't experienced it.
I have started working with other mental health professionals who don't have that personal experience. So we can collaborate where they can take care of the mental health counseling part because I'm definitely not a counselor and I can fill in with the lived experience.
Angel: That's awesome that you're building that safe space and safe zone for women to be able to come to you and talk to you.
"I'm able to help people understand not just about the mental illness itself, but about the effect that it has on families, about the effect that it has on your relationship with your children, your relationship with your parents, your relationship with your spouse, about the effect that it has on your spiritual wellbeing, your emotional wellbeing, you know what I mean?" -Alex
Angel: How does your faith play a role in your business?
Alex: My faith is the foundation of my business. My business was literally founded on my faith in Jesus Christ, my belief in Jesus Christ, and the belief that without him, I would not have, I would not be where I am today.
I would not have survived the many traumatic and difficult experiences that I've been through as a result of the mental illness without my faith. So I speak about that very openly.
And I know that everybody is not a believer in Jesus Christ, but I like to share my story, give God his glory and I let him do the rest.

Alex: We dive into all the things, talking about what we talked about earlier, managing your mental wellness and how that affects your spirituality, the stigma that it has and how to break down that stigma, how it affects your family, how it affects you as a person and the roles that you're carrying as a mom and a wife, and feeling sometimes overwhelmed or under appreciated and how to deal with those feelings, how to make time for yourself so that when those feelings come up, you know what to do with them.
And you know how to avoid them, really, and how to just live a more balanced life and to thrive instead of just survive.
